Subject: Facilitating Species Conservation Planning Processes Course

The IUCN SSC Conservation Planning Specialist Group and Chester Zoo have teamed up to deliver an exciting new course designed to equip conservation professionals with the skills needed to navigate difficulties that arise during the journey through the Species Conservation Planning Cycle, especially when the situation calls for the collaboration of multiple individuals or organizations. The course is relevant to conservation professionals and academics working within zoos, universities and field programs, particularly those involved in, or wishing to be involved in, developing conservation plans. Pre-course online lectures and knowledge checks will be combined with a face-to-face taught workshop. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate how to facilitate effective workshops and meetings
  • Apply the One Plan Approach to species conservation planning processes
  • Deal with conflict under different circumstances
  • Demonstrate effective listening skills
  • Describe how to provide feedback to individuals to improve relationships and work effectively

The course will take place 30th July-2nd August 2018 at Chester Zoo. Please register by 15th June. To learn how to register and to find out more details about the training, visit our website http://www.cpsg.org/our-approach/training or email Jamie Copsey at jamie@cpsg.org.
