Dear SCB ANA Members,
As many of you may recall, we recently conducted a survey among SCB-ANA Section membership to evaluate support for officially changing our name to the “Latin America and Caribbean”, or LACA Section. We on the Board felt that this name would better identify our Section to SCB membership and to the public by avoiding future confusion as to our geographic scope and focus. The origin of the idea for “Latin America and Caribbean” is based partly on the United Nations model for identifying this geographical region politically.
We are pleased to report to you that >95% of members participating in this vote officially support and agree with this name change. After taking this issue to the SCB Board of Governors, we are further pleased to report to you that this name change has been approved at the highest level and is now official. From here on, our Section will now be known as the Latin America and Caribbean Section, or LACA for short. We appreciate your participation and support at this time as we look to increase Section visibility and activity in the coming years.

Como muchos de ustedes pueden recordar, recientemente realizamos una encuesta entre la membresía de la Sección de SCB-ANA para evaluar el apoyo para cambiar oficialmente nuestro nombre a: Sección de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, o LACA. En la Junta Directiva sentimos que este nombre debe identificar mejor a nuestra Sección, tanto hacia la membresía de la SCB como al público en general, evitando confusiones respecto a nuestro alcance y enfoque geográfico. El origen de la idea de utilizar "Latinoamérica y el Caribe" se basa parcialmente en el modelo de las Naciones Unidas para identificar políticamente a esta región geográfica.
Nos es grato informarles que más del 95% de los miembros que participaron en la votación apoyan y están de acuerdo con el cambio de nombre. Después de llevar este asunto al Consejo Directivo de la SCB, estamos aún más satisfechos de informarles que el cambio de nombre fue aprobado y ya es oficial. De ahora en mas adelante, nuestra Sección será conocida como la Sección de Latinoamérica y El Caribe, o para abreviar, LACA. Apreciamos su participación y apoyo en este momento en que planeamos incrementar la visibilidad y actividades de la Sección en los años venideros.
