Welcome Reception & Important Announcements
Welcome Reception
We have planned a welcome reception on June 2nd, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be held at the Regal I hall, at the Yak and Yeti hotel. This will be a non-compulsory informal gathering which is intended for ice-breaking and early networking. Those who will be in Kathmandu for the conference are welcome to join the reception.
We also note that some workshops at NTNC/NAST will be concluding at 5:00 or 6:00 pm. If you are involved in such workshops, you are also welcome to join if you can arrive at the hotel during the stipulated time. Please note that this reception will run in parallel to other dinner receptions that have been planned by other organisations for selected participants.
Delegate Survey
SCB and the SCB Asia Region invite you to complete a brief, 5-question survey to share your feedback as to how you currently receive value from SCB, and how we can improve. The survey will take less than 2 minutes to fill up. Please share your feedback honestly, as all responses are anonymous. Please complete the survey by 19 June 2026. If you have any questions or would like to share deeper feedback, please contact membership@conbio.org.

General Congress Information
- Dates: The Congress will be held June 3-5, 2026. Pre and post-congress workshops take place on June 1, 2, and 6.
- Main Venue: The Yak & Yeti Hotel, Kathmandu. The conference start time is 9:00 AM.
- Badges: Conference badge distribution starts from 8:00 AM on June 3 at the main hall entrance. For participants staying at or near Yak & Yeti, you can collect your badge and lanyard early from June 1st, 10:00 AM onwards.
- Conference App: Download the eConference.io app and use the code: SCBAS26. For apple, click here.
- Weather: June is monsoon season in Kathmandu, with general temperatures between 18°C and 30°C. Expect regular rainfall. A compact foldable umbrella, a lightweight rain poncho, and waterproof footwear are strongly recommended.
- Transportation: Do not depend on public vehicles in Kathmandu, as they are unreliable and overcrowded. We recommend using ride-sharing apps like InDrive or Yango (a local SIM card is required).
- Money & Power: The local currency is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR), with 1 USD equaling approximately 152 NPR. Plugs are Type C/D/M, 230V, so bring a universal adapter.
Workshop Specifics (June 1, 2 & 6)
- Start Time: All workshops start at 10:00 AM. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early.
- Yak & Yeti Venue: Expect consistently heavy traffic in the Durbar Marg area, especially during morning rush hours, and allow significant extra travel time.
- NTNC & NAST Venues: Located side-by-side at Khumaltar. Allow significant extra travel time due to heavy traffic in the Satdobato area. We have arranged a third-party catering vendor to serve affordable meals on-site (bring cash). For your health and safety, we strongly advise against eating from outside vendors.
- What to Bring: Bring a notebook, pen, laptop, personal ID, and a reusable water bottle. Do not bring excessive luggage or valuables you do not need.
