IMCC5 Proceedings
We are pleased to announce that the 5th International Marine Conservation Congress proceedings will be published in the online journal Frontiers in Marine Science. If you have questions, please contact IMCC5 Publications Chair Chris Parsons.
Abstracts for work being presented at IMCC5 or OceansOnline, or papers that are the result of collaborations and activities occurring at any IMCC or OceansOnline, can be submitted to the proceedings via the Frontiers IMCC link: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/6132/5th-international-marine-conservation-congress. Original research papers, opinion/commentary articles, and reports from workshops, symposia, and focus groups are all welcome and encouraged. All proceedings articles will be peer-reviewed.
Frontiers is an open access journal that is highly ranked (for example: http://blog.frontiersin.org/2015/09/11/frontiers-leads-in-size-and-quality-in-gold-open-access-comparison/). More information about marine conservation section of the journal can be found at: http://journal.frontiersin.org/journal/marine-science/section/marine-conservation-and-sustainability.
Open Access
It is important to IMCC and OceansOnline that papers published as part of the proceedings be open access. There are fees for publishing open access articles in the proceedings, but these fees (see below) are nearly half that of most regular journals. Fees depend on the category of article (for details, see http://journal.frontiersin.org/journal/marine-science/section/marine-conservation-and-sustainability#article-types), but all research papers submitted to the IMCC and OceanOnline proceedings receive at least a 25% discount on the regular open access cost.
Low-income and developing country researchers can apply for a partial to full waiver of the publishing fees by emailing this form (http://www.frontiersin.org/design/pdf/Waiver_Form.pdf) to waivers@frontiersin.org to apply for a waiver when you submit your paper.
Open Access Fees
A-type articles (includes Original Research and Reviews): US $977.50
B-type articles: US $700
C-type articles: US $450
For details on article categories see: http://journal.frontiersin.org/journal/marine-science/section/marine-conservation-and-sustainability#article-types
Many universities have an agreement to pay the open access fees for Frontiers articles for their researchers. To check if your university has such an agreement go to: http://home.frontiersin.org/about/institutional-membership.
