SCB Partners Up To Bring Conservation To School Classrooms Around The World

Inspiring and fostering environmental values amongst the next generation is an important endeavour for advancing SCB’s mission of conserving biodiversity on earth. SCB is delighted to announce a partnership with Skype a Scientist. This is an educational and outreach program providing an online platform to make science more accessible to the general public and particularly to school students around the world. Skype a Scientist provides an online database to match scientist with school teachers, so that scientist can deliver presentations via Skype to school classrooms, inspiring and engaging students. Scientists enroll registering their areas of expertise, as well as time zones of availability and languages.

Skype a Scientist produces over 6,000 matches a year connecting scientists with school classrooms. Additionally, this partnership includes a “Conservation Week”, during which three live stream events focused on biodiversity conservation will be scheduled covering three broad time zones across most of the world (the Americas, Europe/Africa, and Asia/Oceania). This is a great opportunity for SCB members to reach out to the next generation and excite them about conservation science. If you'd like more information, or to get involved with "Conservation Week", please contact Dr Sarah McAnulty (Skype a Scientist Executive Director) at or Ed Gallo-Cajiao (SCB’s VP for Education and Outreach).
