Africa Section Policy Initiatives

The Society for Conservation Biology Africa Section has an active membership of approximately 500 individuals globally. The Section addresses conservation policy in Africa at it's regional meetings and at SCB's International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB).

In March of 2022, the Section released a position statement on Okomu National Park, Salvaging Okomu National Park from Ruin: Proposals for Sustainability in Critical Times. Read it here.

The Section has also issued statements on palm oil production, agrofuels, and ivory consumption (see Africa Policy News in right column), among other topics.
