Subject: Wildlife Capture & Chemical Immobilization (ONLINE REFRESHER)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is for students and professionals interested in refreshing their knowledge on all aspects of capturing and immobilizing wild animals using a variety of techniques and drugs. This CWS refresher course is for students that have taken an approved course (e.g., Safe Capture) 1-3 years ago. This course is also the prerequisite for a 4-day FIELD COURSE designed to provide students a one-of-a-kind, hands-on learning experience capturing and chemically immobilizing wolves, bears, cougars, elk, and other wildlife at the Wildlife Science Center (WSC) in Stacy, MN. Winter and spring FIELD COURSES will be offered at WSC Feb 28-March 3 and May 23-26, 2022, respectively.

PREREQUISITES: Students that took an approved course 1-3 years ago are eligible to take this course at anytime. Students that have not taken the training in >3 years MUST take CWS's regular online course before attending the field course in MN.

eBook included with course fee. Hard copy of the textbook is also available at an additional cost ($50).

FORMAT: Participants will learn at their own pace by watching prerecorded lectures, working on problem sets, and reading Dr. Kreeger’s handbook and peer-reviewed journal articles. An exam will be administered to those seeking a certification of completion from the Center for Wildlife Studies.
