Call for Nominations for SCB Global Distinguished Service Awards

Nominations due by 21 February 2025

The Society for Conservation Biology is excited to solicit nominations for the 2025 Global Awards!

SCB award winners - including conservationists, practitioners, and scientists from early-career to well-established professionals - have made extraordinary contributions to biodiversity conservation and to further the mission of SCB.

This year’s SCB Global Award winners will be announced at the 32nd International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2025) in June in Brisbane/Meanjin, Australia. The Global Award prize package includes complimentary registration to attend ICCB 2025, as well as reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses at the congress.

SCB will present up to five Global Awards at ICCB 2025, across four different Global Award categories:

  • Distinguished Service Awards recognize individuals, groups, or institutions for distinguished service in any field associated with conservation biology, and whose work has furthered the mission of SCB.
  • The Early Career Conservationist Award honors achievements in conservation by professionals early in their careers (no more than 10 years since leaving school).
  • The Conservation Beacon Award recognizes women of marginalized status that are traditionally under-served within higher education.
  • The Edward T. LaRoe III Memorial Award recognizes the innovative application of science to resource management and policy, particularly for individuals who are employees of government agencies or who have spent at least part of their career in public service.
