Current Conservation: Handling Editors Wanted

As you all may know, SCB has recently entered into a partnership with Current Conservation Magazine, which is now an SCB Affiliate Publication.

Current Conservation is a not-for-profit quarterly print and online magazine. They work with scientists, science writers, and artists across the world to tell written and visual stories from the field of conservation, in a manner that engages both scientific and non-scientific audiences from around the world. The articles in Current Conservation cover a range of topics such as climate change, human-wildlife interaction, environmental policy, indigenous communities, wildlife conservation, and much more.

They are looking for handling editors to join our editorial board, which is currently composed of nine stellar individuals, who provide their time pro-bono to source and edit articles for the main magazine, as well as the annual Current Conservation Kids supplement. The role is for a period of three years and requires fairly low commitment in terms of time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direction to the journal by suggesting and coordinating theme issues
  • Soliciting articles for other issues
  • Suggesting reviewers / reviewing articles
  • Helping with language
  • Helping raise the profile of the magazine
