ACCB 2016

The 3rd African Congress for Conservation Biology (ACCB) was held between September 4 and 8, 2016 at Faculty of Sciences Campus, Université Chouaib Doukkali, El Jadida. Over 200 participants from Africa, Europe, North America and Asia were present at the event, participating in oral and poster presentations, and relevant workshops and training courses. The conference was graciously supported by King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of El Jadida city. Furthermore, the congress opened doors to increase SCB membership in Africa, especially from North Africa, and create more Chapters, with positive responses from Algeria, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda; as well as in Spain and United Kingdom. In addition, forum for discussing biodiversity management in the Mediterranean region took place, which is expected to continue beyond ACCB. The next ACCB will be in 2018.
