Call for Nominations: SCB Freshwater Working Group Board 

There are five open positions on the FWWG Board: President and four Member-at-large seats, to be represented by SCB members. All seats are open for two-year terms. We seek members with interest in freshwater ecosystems. Helpful qualities are: 1) Leading initiatives that both reward and create opportunities for students or early career researchers; and 2) with experience leading group communications and outreach.

Some previous activities of the FWWG board members include: co-published papers, organized professional training courses, delivered webinars, and launched public outreach efforts to advance the conservation of freshwater ecosystems.

Nominations are now due by 1 April, 2021.

If you believe you would be a good candidate for one of these positions and would be willing to participate in at least 4 video conference calls per year, and 1 in person meeting every two years (at bi-annual ICCB meetings), please send (max 300 words) response to the form below by e-mail by 1 April, 2021 to the FWWG Board at freshwater@conbio.org and cc to FWWG President john.piccolo@kau.se. Please use “Freshwater Working Group Elections' in the email subject and be sure to state which position that the nomination is for.

Freshwater Working Group (FWWG)

In 2003 at SCB's annual meeting in Duluth, Minnesota, the Freshwater Working Group was formed to help promote freshwater conservation concerns within the Society and the discipline at large.  

Freshwater Working Group Mission:

Promote effective freshwater ecosystem conservation, science and scholarship across the globe. The FWWG meets several times a year (by skype or in person), organizing symposia on freshwater issues and promoting community engagement in freshwater topics.
